Competition Objectives
To grow economic excellence in South Africa by:
- Promoting the principles of sustainable economic development.
- Developing future leaders in the field of economics, with a focus on young black university students.
- Making young South Africans excited about economics as a subject and career path.
- Providing the students with an opportunity to establish contact with key players in the facial world.
- Making the competition part of the National Budget institution.

I find that the Budget Speech Competition has great value for aspiring economic students. Not only are the topics economically relevant, but the Budget Speech Competition events in Cape Town gave students an opportunity to meet and talk to some of the most influential policy makers in South Africa.
